Comfort in every season
A heated, accessible shelter with comfortable seating and protection from wind, rain and snow.
Senior transit · Queen Street
A comfortable Queen Street transit exchange designed around the people who depend on it.

The policy
Seniors should not have to cross a busy street simply to catch the return bus.
In cooperation with the provincial government, we will create an off-street transit exchange on the west side of Queen Street at the provincial seniors-housing property. Both directions will use one safe, accessible location with room for more than one bus.
“The bus should do the extra travelling, not the senior.”
Designed around riders
A heated, accessible shelter with comfortable seating and protection from wind, rain and snow.
Bright, even lighting, level platforms and dedicated room for wheelchairs and mobility devices.
A clean, accessible washroom where seniors and riders can wait with dignity.
Northbound and southbound service at one off-street location on the west side of Queen Street.
Clear service information and a safer, more predictable place to make connections.
Two wheelchair-accessible, taxi-like vehicles for on-call trips that cannot be reserved well in advance.
A provincial partnership
The exchange belongs beside the people it is meant to serve. The City will work with the Province to improve safety, comfort and access at the Queen Street seniors-housing property.
Same-day paratransit
Pat and the Elephant provides valuable service, but unscheduled trips can be difficult when rides must be reserved in advance. Two wheelchair-accessible, taxi-like vehicles would provide on-call and same-day transportation for appointments, errands and unexpected needs.
The commitment
A practical exchange. Safer access. More comfort. Better transportation when plans change.
